Reading/ Language Arts
 
We will begin unit 6 about the Viking age.
 
This unit will build upon what students have already learned about ancient civilizations in second grade and this year. They will be introduced to the people of the Viking Age. We will learn about the men, women, and children who spoke the old Norse language and lived in an area of northern Europe called Scandinavia the countries we now call Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
 
Writing
 
Students will continue to use R.A.C.E. This is a constructed response that students will use to help remember how to write an appropriate length including all the components in written expression in all subject areas.  We will be working on responding to prompts about the Vikings while working in unit 6.
 
Math
 
We will continue to use C.U.B.E.S. We will begin working in Topic 10 which is all about multiples of 10.
 
Science/S.S.
 
We will begin Ecology this week.
