Attendance

It is important for your student's success that they are present at school. Every day matters.

However, we understand that life happens. If your student is unable to attend school for any reason, please contact our office as soon as possible to advise us of the absence. Our contact information can be found on the right-hand side of this page.

Every day at 9am parents/guardians of students who are absent will receive a call advising them that their student is absent. Students who have been excused will not receive a call. Please call us by 8:45am to inform the school of your student's absence.

Documentation of the absence (i.e., a doctor's note) should be turned into the office when the student returns to school.

If your student will be absent for more than 2 days, a pre-arranged absence form must be completed at least 1 week prior to the absence. The form is available in the office.

Once the form has been submitted, we will process the form. Our administrative team will review the request. Once the request has been approved, we will obtain homework for the days of absence from the student's teacher.
Truant Students

If a student is absent without a signed parental excuse or if the student leaves school or a class without permission of the teacher or administrator in charge, the student shall be considered truant.

District policy on attendance defines:

Truancy: Truancy is defined as an unexcused absence. The rate is calculated by dividing the reported Total Student Days Unexcused Absences by the Total Student Days Possible.

Habitually Truant (Student Count): A student is counted habitually truant if the student has four unexcused absences in one month and/or 10 absences in one school year

Chronically Absent: A student absent 10% or more of the days enrolled during the school year is chronically absence. All absences are included--- unexcused, excused, and suspensions.
      • If your student is chronically absent we will send home notification via a letter.
