Lets Make A Mark! a unit on circles
In this unit we will look at several ways that circles have influenced art.
Week of 1/5
We will start with a really simple study of Peter H Renyolds story "The Dot"
and make our own mixed media dot drawings.
materials: paper and any medium of choice. ( crayon, marker, paint, chalk, pencil etc...)
trt to make at least 4 drawings or paintings in different styles using dots of all shapes and sizes like Vashti.

Who was Vassily Kandinsky?
Students will replicate vassily Kandinskis famous circle painting tearing colored paper circles and gluing them to the page.
Materials
Paper, colored paper, glue, scissors, crayon, marker, or paint.

George Seurat created magical pictures by using only dots. We will create a drawing of our own following the video using markers and dots.

There are several ways to create a digital portfolio, I find the easiest is to upload pix from my phone or Ipad into google drive, then create a slideshow and attach in google classroom. Chromebooks also have a camera feature.
There is an untitled slideshow attached which you can click on and add photos with drag and drop. You will be adding new slides to this portfolio from this point on, to create a collection of work which will include all projects for the year. Your portfolio will be your final exam and must include all work submissions for the year . We will have an all school Virtual Art show and you need all art from the year for seletion.
Portfolios must be entered into Google classroom and turned in here. Email submissions will not be accepted lp.

Assignment 1 Monochromatic Self portraits
Welcome back Artists!
We are going to start our year with a look again at self portrait. Most of you are familiar with this from last year so we are going to stretch it a bit further and introduce the elements of color and design.
Monochromatic is the use of one color. all aspects of the color. So once you do your line drawing of yourself, you will choose one color to use for all of the drawing. you may use pencils, crayons, marker paint or whatever you like to color yourself. but only one color. lets only use crayon or pencil on your face though!
your self portrait will be the cover of your portfolio. We will keep all of our work in a portfolio til the end of the semester so make sure you have a folder or binder to keep your art work in.
