Updates

March 15, 2023

We are excited to announce that our building project for Belle Creek has been moving along in the background during this current school year. We will soon have our necessary permits to begin breaking ground and our much-anticipated construction will begin soon. The early impact should be minimal, but there may be an impact on the average school day and your student.

Upcoming Changes to Campus

Beginning April 1st, staff will be utilizing the main parking lot as staff parking. This will impact the number of available parking spots. Please plan for extra time for parking if using the school parking lot at pick up times.

During the week of Spring Break, GTC will be installing portable chain link fencing around areas of the campus that construction will begin first. The fencing will go around: the 3rd-6th grade entrance by the playground and the grassy mound outside the main office. Please reference the construction map for precise fence location.

The following changes will occur due to the fencing:

- - Parts of the playground will be blocked off or have a limited use.
  - The 3rd-6th grade entrance will be blocked off by fencing and unusable.
    - The 3rd-6th grade entrance and exit will be moved to the Library Entrance (Door 2).

There should not be an impact to entering and exiting the main building entrance or other campus usage.

Construction

- Work will begin on the 2-story classroom addition and the new office complex simultaneously.
- The stage bump-out will not begin until the summer break.
  - The cafeteria/MS exit will not be affected during the remainder of this school year.
- All work until this Spring will be outside foundation work and framing the new buildings.
- There will be no construction inside the existing school building space during the remainder of the school year.

There should be little or no other impact to regular classroom activities inside the building. The goal is also to have little or no impact on traffic patterns for parents around the driveways of the campus for before or after school pick-up.

Thank you to the Brighton Community for approving the 2021 5A Bond!

Belle Creek Charter School was granted $5.9 million dollars to fund new construction and improvements to the school!

The funding will help us in adding:

A new 2-story classroom addition that will include a STEM and Life Skills Classroom, a new Art classroom with a kiln, and New General Music and Choir Classroom.
A new addition to the cafeteria with a larger band classroom and a stage for performances.
A new administrative area with a more secure Main Entrance, a health office, and Board conference room.
An additional restroom in the Kindergarten classrooms.

The project will also include:

Renovations to the current administrative offices for relocation of the Special Education Department offices, a new Training Room, and a Staff Lounge.
Renovations to the current Special Education offices for additional RTI and small group rooms, storage, and a lactation room.
Renovations to the current band classroom for a conference room.
