Monday
Skills: We will practice adding –ing to words. Sometimes we drop the silent “e” before adding –ing (like make → making).
Listening & Learning: We will learn about the prefix in–, which means “not,” and talk about how to use it.
Math: Math Test on Topic 3!
Tuesday
Skills: We will start writing a story retelling of The Milk. We’ll use our plan from before and write it in sentences with talking parts and correct punctuation.
Listening & Learning: We will learn the new word summoned (called for someone to come).
Math: We will use models (like base-ten blocks or drawings) to add two-digit numbers and explain how we solved them.
Wednesday
Skills: We will use an editing checklist to fix and improve our retelling of The Milk.
Listening & Learning: We will learn the new word mission (a job or goal to do).
Math: We will practice adding 2-digit numbers using models.
Thursday
Skills: We will read The Hare and the Hedgehog and answer questions. Then we will write 3 sentences about the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Listening & Learning: We will learn the phrase: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” (if you keep trying, you can do it).
Math: We will practice adding numbers using place value and partial sums (breaking numbers apart).
Friday
Skills: Spelling Test today!
We will read How the Hedgehog Tricked the Hare and answer questions about what the characters did.
Listening & Learning: We will learn the word Spartan (a person from Sparta, who was tough and strong).
Math: We will practice adding with mental math, place value, and partial sums.
