Meet the Teacher
My name is Kirstin Lear (my first name is pronounced Kear-stin. A trick to remember: the first part of my name Kir rhymes with my last name Lear ) and I am so excited for our year of kindergarten together!
I live in Belle Creek with my husband, my two daughters and our dog. Both my girls attended Belle Creek all the way from kindergarten to 8th grade (one in high school and one in college now). I consider BCCS as part of my family, both as a parent and as a teacher!
My educator journey has followed a unique path. After college, I spent time traveling around the world and settled down in Chicago and then Boulder teaching preschool. I absolutely loved teaching preschool, but left to explore other career options. I earned my Master's of Architecture and went on to work at a firm that designed the original homes for Belle Creek (which also led me to purchasing a home here)! After taking some time off to be a stay at home mom, I started volunteering in my daughter's class. My heart soared and I knew I had to make my way back to the classroom! I worked as a para in first grade for 3 years as I prepared for my elementary teaching license, and this will be my 8th year teaching kindergarten.
Over the years I've also taught swim lessons, was a volunteer tutor and mentor, enjoyed the outdoors as a summer camp counselor, taught drawing classes, was a Girl Scout troop leader, led Sunday School classes and taught English to students in China over the internet. Teaching has always been rewarding a part of my life!
I am pleased to have the opportunity to partner with your family this year. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. In an emergency, please call the school front office as kindergarten is very active and I will not be able to answer a call or reply to a message immediately.
