Meet the Teachers
I live right here in Belle Creek with my husband, our two amazing daughters, and our lovable (and slightly spoiled) dog. Both of my girls went to Belle Creek from kindergarten through 8th grade—one’s now a high schooler at Riverdale Ridge High School, and the other is off on her next big adventure at Northern Arizona University! Belle Creek Charter School has been a huge part of our lives for years, and honestly, it feels like part of our extended family—both as a parent and now as a teacher.
My path into teaching has definitely been an adventure! After college at the Ohio State University, I took some time to travel the world (hello, wanderlust!), then landed in Chicago and later Boulder, where I taught preschool. I’ve always loved working with little ones, but eventually I decided to switch things up. I went back to school for a Master’s in Architecture, and even worked at the firm that helped design the original homes right here in Belle Creek—how cool is that? That’s actually what led us to move into the neighborhood!
After taking some time off to be a stay-at-home mom, I started volunteering in my daughter’s classroom—and that’s when my heart told me I needed to get back to the classroom. I jumped back in as a first-grade para for three years while working on my elementary teaching license. Now, here I am—heading into my 9th year teaching kindergarten, and loving every minute of it!
When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me cheering on my daughter’s volleyball team, curled up with a good book, or out hiking in the sunshine. I absolutely love spending time with my family—they’re my favorite people and we love to laugh, explore, and make memories together!
A proud alumna of Belle Creek Charter School, Desirae attended from kindergarten through eighth grade, then graduated from Prairie View High School. She is currently pursuing a degree in elementary education.
Miss Desirae plays an essential role in our classroom, supporting students during lessons, working with small groups, and supervising recess and/or lunch, among many other important responsibilities that help our classroom run smoothly. Her dedication, warmth, and hard work make her an invaluable part of our team!
