Meet the Teacher

My name is Kirstin Lear (my first name is pronounced Kear-stin. A trick to remember: the first part of my name Kir rhymes with my last name Lear ) and I am  so excited for our year of kindergarten together!

I live right here in Belle Creek with my husband, our two daughters, and our dog. Both of my girls went to Belle Creek from kindergarten through 8th grade—one'is now in high school and the other is off at college! This school has been a huge part of our lives, and I honestly think of BCCS as part of my extended family—both as a parent and a teacher.

My journey into teaching has been a bit of an adventure! After college, I traveled the world for a while, then settled down and taught preschool in Chicago and later in Boulder. I loved working with little ones, but eventually decided to try something new. I went back to school and got my Master’s in Architecture, then worked at a firm that actually designed the original homes here in Belle Creek—pretty cool, right? That’s also how we ended up buying a home in the neighborhood.

After taking a break to be a stay-at-home mom, I started volunteering in my daughter’s classroom and realized just how much I missed teaching. I jumped back in as a para in first grade for three years while working on my elementary teaching license, and now here I am—heading into my 9th year teaching kindergarten!
