Weekly Kindergarten Learning Updates…
Week of September 21, 2025
- Thank you to all of the chaperones who visited Miller Farms with us last week. Our students were proud to share you with their classmates and we could not have done this field trip without your support!
LEARNING TOPICS
Listed below is a quick outline of what we are learning in the classroom.
Homework Books (the red Skills 1 workbook) are due on Friday, September 26th. These books were sent home at he beginning of the month and are intended to provide your child with practice on some of the skills done in class during our reading block. If there are ever any questions or concerns regarding completing these workbook pages, please notify me and we will work out a solution.
Reading: We are wrapping up our CKLA Skills Unit 2 activities and will begin Skills 3 this week. Unit 3 emphasizes building skills in breaking down words into sounds (cat = /c/ /a/ /t/), identifying the beginning and ending sounds of words, and writing sounds associated with words and pictures. We have learned the sounds for /a/,/c/,/o/,/d/,/g/, and are learning /m/ this week. Practice these sounds with your student and encourage them to write the letters as much as possible.
Writing: We are still working on writing control and using the correct grip on our pencils and crayons consistently. We are also writing our names with a capital letter followed by lower case letters and learning correct letter formation. We are using drawing to express our ideas and focusing on adding details to our drawings. These details include things like facial expressions, clothing, hairstyles, and adding settings for the characters.
Math: Savvas Envision Math Unit 3, comparing, counting, and writing numbers 6-10
Unit 2 Assessments were sent home last week. If your child is still having a difficult time with the numbers 0-5, please practice these at home.
