 Our Week Ahead

This week in reading, we will continue our unit about personal narratives.  We will be reading and analyzing personal narratives by various authors.  The students will be writing a name narrative.  In addition, we will continue reviewing the parts of speech.  In math, we will continue to work in place value and look at number patterns.  There will be nightly homework assigned.  In Social Studies, we will continue our unit on world lakes. The students will learn where these lakes are located and whether they are fresh or saltwater.  They will also learn how these lakes provide resources to people.  There will be an assessment on this unit either at the end of this week or the beginning of next.  Next week we will begin a science unit where the students investigate matter. We will continue reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer together.  Either at the end of this week or the beginning of next, the students will write a book report summarizing either the entire book or a chapter within the book.  We have a spelling test this week.  The students have three spelling lists to pick from.  I have written the first list on the right.  The spelling test will be on Friday.  This week, the students will begin writing their homework in their planners.  Also, they should read twenty minutes a night as part of their homework.  Reading is the basis of all education.  Have a wonderful week!
